Week 2

๐—ช๐—”๐—ฅ๐— -๐—จ๐—ฃ
โ€ข What is one nation you want to visit the most? What do you want to see or do there?
โ€ข What story from the older generations in your family is most memorable for you? Why?
โ€ข Do you keep a journal? How do you think you would be described by people who may read your journal in the future?

In this passage, the Psalmist described God as someone eternal, This tells us that God has revealed Himself to people in the past and He wants to continue to reveal Himself to people in the future. God has shown mercy to His people, and He has heard the prayers of those in despair. At the same time, He has displayed His glory and brought freedom to those in bondage. Because of who He is and what He does, people from all over the world who know Him will do more than put their hope in Him. Today, we will look at two things that will happen when people know of Godโ€™s greatness and faithfulness.

The Psalmist painted two aspects about the nature of God. First, God is to be feared. He will be feared by all the kings and nations of the world. This does not mean that He is a scary God. The word โ€œfearโ€ used here means to be revered or honored. When God displays His greatness and glory, people all over the world will exalt and worship His name. Second, He is loving. Despite His greatness, God does not turn away the lowly. We can take comfort in the fact that regardless of who and where we are, God hears our prayers in our times of need and draws us closer to Him. Share a time when Godโ€™s love brought you comfort and led you to worship Him. Share also a similar testimony of someone from your church community or another nation.

In this passage, the Psalmist described the extent of Godโ€™s reach. He will be worshiped not just by the nations, but This is what he wanted the future generations to knowโ€”God heard the cries of people in bondage and delivered them (Psalm 102:19โ€“20). What God did in the past is still true for us today. He is still setting people free. We are still to record and proclaim what He is doing so that the generations after us will know and worship Him. What is the prayer of the Psalmist in Psalm 71:18? How is God using you in your current stage in life to proclaim His goodness to the next generations?

โ€ข Recall at least five important things that God did in your life and what each of them taught you about who God is. This week, share this with someone who is from a younger generation.
โ€ข How can a lifestyle of worship benefit the people around you, regardless of age or culture? How may this lead others to Christ?
โ€ข Ask God to give you a nation you can regularly pray for starting this week. Pray that Godโ€™s glory will be known in that nation and that people will give Him the honor and worship He deserves.

๐—ฃ๐—ฅ๐—”๐—ฌ๐—˜๐—ฅ
โ€ข Thank God for revealing Himself to you. Pray that He will use you in proclaiming who He is not just in your nation, but in other nations as well.
โ€ข Ask God for more open doors for the gospel to be preached in every nation. Pray for missionaries all over the world to be strengthened in their faith.
โ€ข Pray that your generation will be zealous in proclaiming God to the next generation. Pray that they will know Him and fulfill His plans and purposes for every nation in their generation.
