Errant teaching or understanding can make a relationship with God that was created to be beautiful to become burdensome and painfilled. The disciple of Jesus Christ is no longer called a sinner but righteous. It’s a new identity that, if embraced, releases you from the power of sin. It is extremely self-defeating to embrace a sinful identity. Embracing a sin-identity instead of dealing properly with sin will cause decay, decline and death to have a foothold that is not proper or necessary for the believer.
