The story of Peter is a remarkable one, not because Peter was a unique, perfect, gifted, or competent leader, but rather quite the opposite. Peter followed Jesus and was obedient to the Spirits direction for both himself and the early church that he led. God equipped Peter with the wisdom and discernment that he needed to lay the foundations of the Church, along with the other Apostles. God doesn’t call the equipped, He equips the called who step forward in faith and obedience.

Defining Moments: Do Not Forget

Before the people crossed the Jordan and entered the promise land, Moses transcribed his ‘farewell’ letters, which we now call the Book of Deuteronomy. The nation of Israel was in a time of transition, which encompassed many changes. While they waited, they took account and remembered all that God had brought them through. The same Spirit that worked to bring about God’s will for the nation of Israel is the same Spirit who was at work in the first century Church, and who is also at work in our Church. While we wait we take account of where God has brought us and we remember His faithfulness to us.
