How do get church people to give the money needed to fulfill the church's mission? In Paul's second letter to the Corinthians, chapters 8 and 9, he gives a variety of motivations for meeting the needs of the ministry in Jerusalem. All of this is not necessarily a command—it is not a tax—but he asks the church to prove that their joy is full and their love is genuine.

How much should I keep?

How much of the money that Christ gives me and trusts me with can I take for my use? It is a biblical truth that cannot really be disputed: all that I have is God’s, your money is God’s. We are stewards of this wealth so, how much should I keep for myself?

What Is Yours?

God took the focus off giving a tithe in the early church because He wants His people to ask themselves a new question. I think the question that Jesus drives us to ask pretty often is, what in this world that we live in, is yours?” One of the differences between the Old Testament and New Testament is the Great Commission. And, the New Testament church is fundamentally people, that are like missionaries. The implications of this then is that the spiritual hope that Jesus brought to us is to be extended by his church to the world.
