Pride Rejects Grace

John 7:1-24

John intentionally shocks us by telling us that Jesus’ brothers do not believe in him. And he tells us what their unbelief looks like. Pride, at its core, is the rejection of grace and the craving for human approval. And faith, at its core, is not after human approval but embraces the God of grace.

No One Speaks Like Jesus

What John was us to think of when we hear, “No one ever spoke like this man” is the astonishing claims Jesus made about himself. It wasn’t just his wisdom, intelligence, authority, gentleness, courage, or clarity. It was the spectacular and stunning claims he made about himself. No one ever spoke like this man!

You Do Not Know Him

God Is In Charge

John makes it clear over and over again as the objections to Jesus escalate, that the objection itself is in God’s hands. He can overcome it any time He chooses. The devil is not orchestrating things. We are not in control. God is in charge.
