Holy Week 2021

Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, & Easter Sunday

Palm Sunday

March 28, 2021 • Rev. Nicole Massie Martin

Come celebrate Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem and the beginning of Holy Week. We'll hear a sermon from our friend Rev. Dr. Nicole Massie Martin, and enjoy seeing all of your Palm Sunday photo submissions to the joyful sounds of our children's Cherub Choir. *Due to Covid, we are sharing a special recording from 2018.

Maundy Thursday

April 1, 2021 • Tim Snow

Break bread from home with Pastor Tim Snow as he leads us in an online communion service. Hear a message from Pastor Tim and music from Zawadi Morrow, Associate Director of Worship as we reflect on Christ's last supper with his disciples before going to the cross. Prepare for communion with plain bread, crackers, or biscuits and red grape juice, wine, or a non-sweetened liquid. *Maundy Thursday marks the night of the Last Supper when Jesus commanded his beloved disciples to love one another. To model his words, he broke bread with them, and as an act of kindness, he washed their feet and prayed with them. “Maundy” means “command,” hence the name “Maundy Thursday” to reflect the significant message of Christ as he was preparing for the ultimate act of love.

Good Friday

April 2, 2021 • Rev. Tiji Murphy-Santiago

Come meditate on Christ’s final moments on the cross through music, scripture reading, and a sermon by Reverend Tiji Murphy-Santiago, Director of Side-by-Side. Together we remember the day Jesus willingly suffered and gave his life as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins and for us! *Why “Good Friday”? This is a dark and bleak event when we commemorate the suffering and death of our Lord Jesus Christ. We can believe it is “good” because it marks the dramatic fulfillment of God’s plan to save us and sets the stage for the great joy of Christ's resurrection on Easter.

Easter Sunday

April 4, 2021 • George Hinman

Celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ! Death could not hold him. He is risen! Both morning services will include a message of salvation from Senior Pastor George Hinman and an invitation to enter a relationship with the one who died to save us. Our 8:30am traditional service will feature a virtual Cathedral Choir, and the 10am contemporary service will feature members of the worship team. Invite a friend to celebrate with us on this most important day in the Christian calendar! 8:30am (PDT): Traditional service featuring a virtual Cathedral Choir 10:00am (PDT): Contemporary service featuring our Contemporary Music Team Pray that God would place someone on your heart to invite to this worship service. Easter is a joyous celebration and is at the very core of the Christian belief in the sovereignty of God. We will have an opportunity at both services for people to make a faith commitment to Christ, and we will have prayer teams and new believer partners to support and walk alongside them in their decision. We look forward to the close of this Lent season and hope that the 40-days of “Unfollow” gave you an opportunity to spend time with God and reflecting on how much He loves you. As we enter Holy Week and Easter together, we are grateful for your faithfulness as a congregation and look forward to celebrating this significant week with you.
