John the Baptist was questioned about the Christ, some even asked if he was the Christ. John's 'wilderness' was twofold... first, the actual wilderness surrounding the Judean area, and the second wilderness was the cultural climate within which he lived. Modern, Western culture shares many of the characteristics of John's cultural wilderness, therefore, Christians must be the voice crying out in the wilderness urging people to be restored to God.

Mankind seeks purpose, fulfillment and direction in life. When Christ is not the center of our decision making we lose focus and are easily distracted by things which bring dissatisfaction, division, disappointment, and, ultimately, destruction. Our world needs Christ!

'Wise Men' who were exposed to the Old Testament prophecies of the coming Messiah were able to discern the signs in their anticipation of the arrival of the new King. Coming to Herod they inquired of Him only to find, sadly, the Jewish people were largely unaware of the sign of His appearing.
