The Miracle of Christmas

December 12, 2021 • Gregg Parris • Genesis 3:8–15, John 1:1–14

Genesis 3:8-15; John 1:1-14 I. A promise given The seed of the woman will come and bruise the serpents head. Genesis 3:15 II. A Son is born III. Jesus, the incarnate Word In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us… John 1:1,14 The great miracle of Christmas is the incarnation of Jesus Christ! It is in the humanity of Jesus that we, covered in our own humanity, best identify with Him. What Satan, not the angels, not humanity itself, not even the woman in the Garden of Eden could understand was the prophecy, “The seed of the woman will come and bruise the serpent’s head.” When the sinless died for the sinful… when the perfect died for the imperfect our redemption price was paid. This is the seed of the woman. This is the miracle of Christmas.

What would it mean for us to love others “scandalously?” How would that be different from the safe, cautious ways we often show Christ’s love in the world?
