Grace is Greater Than Your Brokenness

I Thessalonians 5:12-28 I Grace is greater than your circumstances. Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. I Thessalonians 5:18 Five times I received from the Jews the forty lashes minus one. Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was pelted with stones, three times I was shipwrecked, I spent a night and a day in the open sea, I have been constantly on the move. I have been in danger from rivers, in danger from bandits, in danger from my fellow Jews, in danger from Gentiles; in danger in the city, in danger in the country, in danger at sea; and in danger from false believers. I have labored and toiled and have often gone without sleep; I have known hunger and thirst and have often gone without food; I have been cold and naked. II Corinthians 11:24-27 Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. Give thanks in all circumstances… I Thessalonians 5: 16-18 What God has done for you is greater than what that person has done to you. See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many. Hebrews 12:15

Grace is Greater Than Your Wounds

Matthew 18:21-35 …where sin did abound, grace did much more abound… Romans 5:20 Every heart knows its own bitterness… Proverbs 14:10 “If the biggest sinner you know isn’t you, then you don’t know yourself very well.” John Laroe Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. Colossians 3:13 I. Grace is greater than repayment. II. Grace is greater than revenge. III. Grace is greater than resentment. “When you forgive the prisoner that it really frees is you.” Matthew West (songwriter) The key to giving grace — hard, messy grace — is to stop thinking about what’s been done to you and to start thinking about what Jesus has done for you.

Grace is Greater Than Your Weakness

II Corinthians 12:1-10 See to it that no one misses the grace of God… Hebrews 12:15 When we’re weak, that weakness gives space for God’s grace to show up. That weakness is the place where God’s power can be most visibly demonstrated. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. II Corinthians 12:9-10 I. Grace is greater than my infirmities. II. Grace is greater than my inabilities. When they [the religious leaders of the day] saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished, and they took note that they had been with Jesus. Acts 4:13 III. Grace is greater than my insecurities.

Grace is Greater Than Your Guilt

Romans 5:12-17 “See to it that no one misses the grace of God.” Hebrews 12:15 The wages of sin is death. Romans 6:23 When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned. Romans 5:12 I. Grace is greater than your sin. For the sin of one man, Adam, brought death to many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of forgiveness to many through this other man, Jesus Christ. Romans 5:15 The result of God’s gracious gift is very different from the result of that one man’s sin. For Adam’s sin led to condemnation, but God’s free gift leads to our being made right with God.” Romans 5:16 For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it. Romans 5:17 II. Grace is greater than your secret. III. Grace is greater than your shame.
