Authentic Worship

March 26, 2023 • Gregg Parris • Psalm 100, Psalm 16:11

Psalm 100 Worship defined: Worship in truth and spirit is experiencing/encountering God. I. Serve God (with praise & adoration) Worship is seeing what God is worth and giving him what he’s worth. Tim Keller I’ve experienced God’s presence most powerfully in worship, often during the singing, I suppose because when we sing to him, we are looking hard in his direction. J.I. Packer Christian worship is the most momentous, the most urgent, the most glorious action that can take place in human life. Karl Barth The world can be saved by one thing and that is worship. For to worship is to quicken the conscience by the holiness of God, to feed the mind with the truth of God, to purge the imagination by the beauty of God, to open the heart to the love of God, to devote the will to the purpose of God. Archbishop William Temple II. Serve people (with His sufficiency) In His presence is fullness of joy. Psalm 16:11

Let the River Flow

March 5, 2023 • Gregg Parris • John 4:35, Romans 5:20, John 4:34–42

John 4:34-42 Three Trends: 1. Woke is making people, in general, miserable. 2. Parents and others are getting angry with school boards and other politicians over what they are doing to our children. 3. There is coming, and now is, a youth “backlash” against woke culture.  Revival is birthed in the womb of humility and brokenness without which you will never personally receive. Question: Would you have felt comfortable with the 120 in the upper room on the day of Pentecost? Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. John 4:35 But where sin does abound, grace does much more abound. Romans 5:20
