WEEK 27 | THE RESURRECTION

October 16, 2022 • Gregg Parris • Matthew 27, Psalm 22, John 19:28, Psalm 24:7–10

“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
Matthew 27:46

How deep the Father's love for us,

How vast beyond all measure

That He should give His only Son

To make a wretch His treasure

How great the pain of searing loss,

The Father turns His face away

As wounds which mar the chosen One,

Bring many sons to glory

My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
Psalm 22:1

Why are you so far from saving me,
so far from my cries of anguish?
My God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer, by night, but I find no rest.

Lift up the gates, ye everlasting doors, and the King of Glory will come in! Who is the King of Glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O you gates, lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is he, this King of glory? The Lord Almighty – he is the King of glory.
Psalm 24:7-10
