WEEK 20 | THE QUEEN OF BEAUTY AND COURAGE

June 19, 2022 • Gregg Parris • Ezra 1:5, Esther 4:11–16, Psalm 82:3–4, Leviticus 19:33–34

Then the family heads of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests and Levites – everyone whose heart God had moved – prepared to go up and build the house of the Lord in Jerusalem.
Pg. 263; Ezra 1:5

“All the king’s officials and the people of the royal provinces know that for any man or woman who approaches the king in the inner court without being summoned the king has but one law: that they be put to death unless the king extends the gold scepter to them and spares their lives. But thirty days have passed since I was called to go to the king.”
Pg. 281; Esther 4:11

“Do not think that because you are in the king’s house you alone of all the Jews will escape. For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”
Pg. 282; Esther 4:13-14

“Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.”
Pg. 282; Esther 4:16

God has placed you in a position of influence.

1. You must know when to keep your mouth shut.

• In matters of preference (Romans 14:1-9)
• To people who won’t listen (Matthew 7:6)
• When you’re angry (Proverbs 15:1; James 1:19)
• Judging someone’s motive (1 Corinthians 4:1-5)
• When you don’t know what you’re talking about (Philippians 2:3)

2. You must know when it is time to speak up

Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.
Rescue the weak and the needy;
deliver them from the hand of the wicked.
Psalm 82:3-4

When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt.
Leviticus 19:33-34

“And who knows but that you have come to your position for such a time as this?”
Esther 4:14
