Key Points

Our view of God shapes who we are and how we live (A.W. Tozer).

Our vision of God is often far too low. When we see Him, we will be surprised by His beauty, holiness, and majesty.

Holiness means God is completely set apart. Pure, innocent, and free from all sin.

When people truly encounter God’s holiness (Isaiah, Moses), they are undone and transformed.

Losing a sense of God’s holiness causes us to lose a true sense of how dark and destructive sin really is.

Sin is not “just a little thing.” It breaks fellowship with God, brings death, and caused Jesus to be forsaken on the cross.

Grace is greater than sin. Where sin abounded, grace super-abounded through Jesus Christ.

The proper response to God’s holiness and grace is to seek His face, walk in the holiness He has given us, and say, “Here am I, send me.”

Discussion

A.W. Tozer said our view of God will determine the kind of people we become. How has your view of God changed over time, and how has that affected the way you live?

Henry said we will be surprised by God’s beauty, holiness, and greatness when we see Him. Which of those three do you most look forward to seeing?

Why do you think the church often loses a sense of the seriousness of sin when it loses a sense of God’s holiness?

Jesus became sin for us and cried out, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” How does that reality change the way you view both your sin and His love?

Romans 5 says grace “super-abounded” where sin increased. How does this truth free you from both despair over sin and carelessness about sin?

Henry challenged us to seek God’s face (not just His hand) and to be willing to take risks for Him. What is one practical way you can respond to that challenge this week?
