As followers of Jesus, God’s intention is for us to conform to the likeness of Jesus in every area of life - including our minds. This week, Brian Barr continued our Disciple series talking about renewing our minds. There is a war waging for our souls. Our enemy’s biggest goal is to get us to believe lies about God that lead us to reject Him in favor of living independent, self-focused lives. Every lie we believe, we also live. And every lie we live leads to destruction. This is why God tells His followers “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind” (Romans 12:2). God wants us to be set free from lies by the power of His truth. We must engage in the process of rooting falsehoods out of our minds and positioning ourselves to be transformed by God’s truth. We do this by surrendering our heart to Jesus, continually exposing ourselves to God’s truth, and depending on the help of the Holy Spirit.
