We grow in meaningful connection with God through consistently and intentionally engaging in spiritual disciplines. God gives us practices through which we can experience God as our Father. 1 Timothy 4:7 says to “train yourself to be godly.” We will not automatically have a close relationship with God because we say “yes” to Jesus. If we are to truly experience God as Father, it will require effort, training and sacrifice on our part. We must introduce healthy habits into our lives that cultivate space for us to engage in spiritual disciplines and eliminate habits that are not helping us to meaningfully commune with God. As we keep showing up and seeking God, He is faithful to meet with us and we experience a deep connection with Him.
