Good Day To You,

As children I believe most of us were afraid of the dark at one point or another. Images on the wall would trigger our mind with wild thoughts and then the adrenaline would kick in and we couldn’t go back to sleep. For some of us, like myself, this still happens, when in the middle of the night a strange noise pops up and I’m awake and wondering.

When you’re a kid and this happens and your anxiety levels shoot up in the middle of the night, one calming thought is that there’s someone there, greater, stronger, able and willing to protect. It’s your Dad.

Today, with all the different issues, pressures, insecurities and concerns, both globally and personally, it’s easy for our peace to be disturbed or even robbed.

Let’s embolden ourselves with the knowledge that our Father in heaven approves of us and has accepted us through his son Jesus Christ. We are not alone. We are not forsaken. He is for us and not against us. We have a big Dad who is on point and watches over us with compassion. Remind yourself that if he cares for the birds of the air, he deeply cares for his own family. The Father sent his own son to make peace between our brokenness and God‘s holiness, as well as to offer peace to us personally that is not found in the world.

“I am leaving you with a gift - peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid. John 14:27

So lean into his peace at this time. Slow down enough to reflect on it and give him thanks for the peace that he promised for you. For a few moments think about the acceptance and approval of his love for you. Thank him for the gift of peace and reflect on it and then notice what settles in on you. A peace and calm that your Dad is home and there’s nothing to fear.
