Our Sunday Service may be like no other Easter Sunday service that you have ever attended. As the “Case for the Resurrection” will be presented in the format of a jury trial.

A barrister will seek to convince you the audience, acting as a jury, of the irrefutable evidence for the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The speaker will position this claim as central to Christianity, stating that its legitimacy determines the truthfulness of Jesus' entire ministry.

Three pieces of evidence will be introduced: Exhibit A is the empty tomb; Exhibit B focuses on multiple eyewitnesses. Exhibit C is the transformed lives of Jesus' followers.

A description of the disciples will be provided listing them as initially fearful and scattered after Jesus' crucifixion, but then radically changed after encountering the resurrected Christ. Their transformation from fear to boldness, and their willingness to face persecution and even death for their belief, is presented as evidence that something extraordinary, occurred in their lives.

Furthermore, the ongoing impact of the resurrected Christ on billions of lives throughout history is presented as a continuing testament to the reality of the resurrection.

The closing argument will reiterate the three main points: the empty tomb, multiple witnesses, and changed lives. All this evidence leads to a challenge the "jury" to consider these pieces of evidence and asks for their verdict on the resurrection.

Finally, we each must answer the question “So What?”, arguing that resurrection has significant implications for our own personal lives. It is presented as an answer to questions of doubt, loneliness, weakness, guilt, and death, offering truth, God's care, power for change, forgiveness, and the promise of eternal life.

The speaker concludes by urging the audience to have their own personal encounter with the living Christ and to embrace Him. The analogy of John "seeing and believing" at the empty tomb causes us to have to make a personal decision regarding the resurrection.
