Background of Galatians

Written....

- To multiple churches planted by Paul on his 1st missionary trip in Turkey. (Acts 13 & 14)

- To Gentiles, not Jews.

- Shortly after 49 AD, after the council of Jerusalem (Acts 15)

- To defend from false teachers.

Who were the false teachers?

- False believers teaching that you must become Jewish and submit to the Mosaic Law before becoming a Christian (Acts 15:1)

- Known as "Judaizers". Modern Day Word would be "legalist"

- What is legalism? Law + Grace = Salvation

Legalism Fails to see the purpose of the Old Testament and the Law

The Law points to...

1. Our Responsibility to obey

2. Our Guilt in not obeying.

3. Our Need for a Savior because the Law is powerless to save!

Application For Today

If Jesus is Enough for You then You need to........

- Write out a plan of action that will help you keep God's love.

- Work on being a better soldier in God's army.

- Walk with determination to not bother God with any other burden in your life.

If Jesus is Enough for you then .....

- REJOICE that nothing can separate you from the love of God!

- REST in the reality that you are a "Son / Daughter" of God!

- RELY on God to provide every need in your life!
