Day 5: Control: Mastering My Body and Its Desires

Overview: Our flesh is so temperamental. One day it wants one thing and another day it wants something else. With Christ, as we discipline our flesh to live as Christ would want us to live, our flesh will always seek and desire to follow the ways of the world. But we must master it!

Scripture: Colossians 3: 1-4 NLT

Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. 2 Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. 3 For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.

Practical Guide: Today, I am going to find a thing that I can take with me daily to remind me to live a more discipline life. This thing will push me to be more aware of what’s going on within and around me and encourage me to win in the battle of the things of the world versus the things of Christ. (Example: a small stick in the pocket, a coin, a bell, a marble, a rock, a wrist band, a card in the wallet, a chain, etc.)

Prayer: Help me to value how my Christian life began and how it will end. Within the dash, I want to live in accordance with Your will as I set my mind on things above in order to experience the love and joy which the Father bestows in my life now and will continue forever.

Quiet Time Moment: For the next 60 seconds, sit quietly (without distractions), embrace the presence of the Lord and seek to hear His voice.
