The Initiating Call of God (3:1-4)

a. God prepares a place - The providence of God (v. 1)

++“Now Moses was pasturing the flock of Jethro his father-in-law…”

++He still believes he can help

++He still believes he can lead.

++He still believes he is ready.

++He sees two Hebrews fighting, he is surprised.

b. God reveals His person — The Angel of the LORD (v. 2a)

“And the angel of the LORD appeared to him…”

++Hidden sin always undermines public ministry.

++When sin is exposed, confidence collapses.

c. God manifest His presence — The burning bush (vv. 2b-3)

“The angel of the LORD appeared to him in a blazing fire from the midst of a bush; and he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, yet the bush was not consumed. 3 So Moses said, “I must turn aside now and see this marvelous sight, why the bush is not burned up”

++Yesterday, he spoke like a leader.

++Yesterday, he acted like a deliverer.

++Yesterday, he believed the future was in his hands.

d. God calls His servant — By voice & name (v. 4)

"When the LORD saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am."
