When you speak of the providence of God what comes to mind? What do you hear others saying about it? Is God in control? Is it an assumption we're to blindly confess or is it something more? Learning to trust in God in life isn't just a mental exercise. God's leadership and guidance in our lives is something we can come to see more and more clearly with each passing year.

When Peter wrote the following it was after many years of living a life under the leadership of God and his word. He'd walked with Jesus. He'd even seen him on the Mount of Transfiguration. But Jesus had left many years prior to him writing his epistles. Peter did not see Jesus again in his life after Jesus Ascended, yet he wrote this for us: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ." 1 Peter 1:3-7. God proves our faith. He breaks us to make us fit for service. He has many ways to do this, and some ways aren't so apparent to us, but as Christians we can trust that he is truly in control. We need to get this truth down in our bones to not be quickly shaken. We are called to do so in sanctification. I pray you're seeing it more and more in your life yourself.
