1. Re-read 1 John 2:15-17. After listening to the sermon, what stands out to you after re-reading?

2. John makes the point that our deeper problem is not what we do, but what we love. How does this shift, clarify, or challenge how you think about your own spiritual growth?

3. The sermon contrasted two kingdoms, not merely two ways of life. Where do you most feel the tension in your personal life between these two kingdoms (work, parenting, relationship, finances/resources, goals, etc.)?

4. All sin falls into at least one of the Lust of the Flesh, the Lust of the Eyes, and the Pride of Life. Which shapes your decisions most?

5. Eve’s example is sharply contrasted with Jesus’, where Eve lets her desire redefine God, but Jesus lets God redefine His desire. Where in your life do you need to let God redefine your desires?

6. We know salvation is by grace alone, not of works, but works are an essential byproduct. How would you explain this dynamic to a co-worker who struggles with it?

7. Finally, what do you look forward to most that allows you to loosen your grip on this world?
