In this first season of the Equipped For Life Podcast, we are going to take a deep dive into the topic of prayer. We will be using the book 'How to Pray: A Simple Guide for Normal People' by Pete Greig as a guide to our discussion. Prayer is the foundation of how we grow in our relationship with God and your life will be changed if you make time to engage with God in this way. Join us as we all grow together in prayer!

QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER

· Will you schedule a place and time each day for prayer and put it on your calendar?

· Will you commit to a set amount of time starting out that seems reasonable for you?

· What is your hope and expectation in developing a daily prayer rhythm?

· What do you think will be your greatest challenge in prayer?

EXERCISE

Read the Lord’s prayer (Matthew 6:9-13) and personalize it as you pray it back to the Lord.

Our Father, who is in heaven – What does it mean for God to be our father?

Hallowed (or holy) is Your name – What makes God’s name holy?

Your Kingdom come, your will be done – Does Jesus rule and reign in our lives?

On earth as it is in heaven – Do our lives look more like heaven or earth?

Give us this day, our daily bread – What are our big needs we need God to meet?

And forgive us our debts as we have forgiven our debtors – Where do we need to forgive and be forgiven?

Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil – Where do we need God’s help with temptation and sin the most?

(For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen) Not in the earliest manuscripts but nothing wrong with praying for God’s rule and reign to begin in us.
