“Lent” is a 40-day, solemn Christian season of fasting, prayer, and repentance that begins tomorrow, Ash Wednesday, and ends before Easter (excluding Sundays).

“Lent” commemorates Jesus’ 40 days of fasting in the wilderness. Participants often fast or "give up" luxuries to reflect on sacrifice and charity, in preparation for celebrating Jesus' resurrection. Consider what is most appropriate for you and your family during this season of reflection.

The message this past Sunday, an important word for the church, included a call to reflect, confess and repent of our sins and the sins of our nation, as together we expose darkness and overcome evil in our land.

Will you join me in starting each day of Lent with a devotion found on our CBC phone app as together we pray for our families, our church and our nation. As Nehemiah confessed the sins of his people, we too can do likewise.

Let’s walk humbly with our God as we stand in the gap and speak in prayer for those who cannot speak for themselves.

“For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them." Eph. 5:8-11
