Why Love My Neighbor?

Why is loving our neighbors a condition for eternal life? Everyone else simply expects us to be law-abiding citizens. Why does God require us to go out of our way for others, simply to be citizens of his kingdom? In this sermon we will connect the command of love our neighbors to God's grand design for the universe, and the part human beings are meant to play in it.

What Does A Neighbor Do?

What does it look like to "love your neighbor?" How far do we have to go? Is waving across the street, or do you have to make them your best friend? Is praying for them enough, or do you have to bail them out of all their problems? In this sermon we'll dig into what Jesus actually meant when he said, "Love your neighbor."

Who's My Neighbor?

In Luke 10, Jesus has a famous conversation with a Jewish lawyer about what it means to "love your neighbor." Who counts as my neighbor? How many people am I actually obligated to love before i can check that box? Jesus answers these questions with a parable about a Good Samaritan--a parable that is frequently misunderstood. What if the answer to this question is different than we've always been told?
