A Guided Tour of the Bible's Essential Passages

God's Kingdom

June 26, 2022 • Andy Adams • Daniel 7:1–3, Daniel 7:9–18

For our final destination in the Old Testament, we make a stop in the sixth century B.C. Along with many of his people, Daniel was exiled to the foreign land of Babylon. In a culture that was often hostile to God’s ways, Daniel and his friends regularly found themselves in compromising situations. Their faith was undermined and challenged repeatedly in this antagonistic kingdom. But God gave Daniel a vision that would give him hope for the future and which centuries later helped the church understand the significance of what happened in Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. As our world becomes harsher to the Christian faith, we may find ourselves in similar circumstances, but we can cling to the promise of God that has been and will be fulfilled in Jesus Christ!

Salvation

June 19, 2022 • Dan Perry • 1 Peter 2:24–25, Isaiah 52:13—53:12

In this message, we look at the anticipation of the Messiah in the Old Testament, our anticipation of Jesus’ coming again, and why we need a Savior in the first place.

Life

June 12, 2022 • Andy Adams • Psalm 19

In this message, we wrestle with one of the most frequently asked questions of Christianity: What is our relationship to God’s Old Testament Law? Do we follow all of it, some of it, or none of it? How do we determine what continues to be relevant and what doesn’t? Who gets to decide? Before we explore the Bible’s response to these questions, we must first hear the testimony of Psalm 19, which captures the heart of the entirety of God’s Word—that the Law of God is righteous and good! In the end, we will find that the Law of God anticipates true life for us, which is ultimately fulfilled in Jesus and his Spirit. Join us this week as we soak in the life God has always intended for us.

A House for God

June 5, 2022 • Andy Adams • 2 Samuel 7:11–14

Throughout the story of Israel’s history and God’s plan of redemption through them, nothing was ever exactly as it should be. Despite God’s ongoing faithfulness, his people never completely lived out the mission intended for them. But throughout the struggles, their story repeatedly pointed to a hope-filled future. These centuries of the Old Testament are best characterized by God’s people anticipating the fulfillment of the great promises that God was working to bring about. This Sunday, we will visit a covenant that God established with David, anticipating a future King whose kingdom will never end!
