Week 4

December 21, 2024 • John 3:16–21

The final week of Advent focuses on LOVE.

John 3:16-21 says,

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish

but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the

world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands

condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19 This is the

verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were

evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be

exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they

have done has been done in the sight of God.

Advent: Joy

December 14, 2024 • Luke 1:39–46

The third week of Advent focuses on JOY! Luke 1:39-46 says, 39 At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, 40 where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth. 41 When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leapt in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. 42 In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! 43 But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44 As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. 45 Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!” And Mary said, “My soul magnifies the Lord, 47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, 48 for he has looked on the humble estate of his servant. For behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed; 49 for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name.”

Advent : Peace

December 7, 2024 • Isaiah 9:6–7

The second week of Advent focuses on Peace. Isaiah 9:6-7 6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon[d] his shoulder, and his name shall be called[e] Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. Pause and Reflect on this question: What is an area in your life that is need of God's peace?

Advent: Hope

December 1, 2024 • Luke 1:26–38

The first week of Advent focuses on HOPE. Luke 1:26-38: In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.” Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.” “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Even Elizabeth, your relative, is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive, is in her sixth month. For no word from God will ever fail.” “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her. Pause and Reflect on this question: What is one thing you are hoping for right now?
