Christmas is celebrated near the darkest day of the year. This season of darkness is reflective of the spiritual darkness of all who do not know Jesus Christ as Lord. All through the Bible, Christ is referred to as the light of the world. During this Advent season, we will be reflecting on several passages which illuminate this reality so that we can fully grasp the significance of the light of God come to men. For Jesus to come means that “the people dwelling in darkness have seen a great light, and for those dwelling in the region and shadow of death, on them a light has dawned” Matthew 4:16. The church has been given this light so that we might brighten the world.
