Expanding consciousness through sensory experience is driving the spiritual and wellness conversation. Various spiritual leaders from various spiritual paths will also tell you that long stretches of mundane time are also part of the spiritual journey. How might we consider our mundane time in relation to expanding our consciousness in order to better know ourselves, those around us, and God?

Our Body and Spirituality are Interconnected

The spiritual explosion in the American West over the past decade has largely been influenced by an Eastern Spirituality that has created a soft-Buddhism in our culture. It is important to note that the spiritual framework of this spirituality has a low view of the body, and sees the dichotomy of spirit and body to be that the spirit is of better value and therefore more important than the body. Christian spirituality has a different take on the body, and sees it as beautiful and equally important to the spirit. Therefore, if the phrase "your body is a temple" resonates with you, then you actually carry a hope that's unique only to Christian spirituality. This talk will explore that hope and framework.

A Vibrant Interior Life

Today's culture emphasizes what it is to be spiritual, and de-emphasizes the religious institution, and for good reason. However, that necessarily has led people to pass over the category of a religious life altogether. The spiritual life brings a person into themselves in a different way than the religious life does, and the religious life brings a person into themselves in a different way than the spiritual life does. What is it then to have both a strong spiritual and religious life, and thus be spiritual and religious?
