Breakout: Family Life

Kingdom Work at Home: Family life shaped by God’s Kingdom Purposes

June 22, 2019 • Dan Harless, Erica Hart, Jeremy Hart, Kerri Hart, Lisa Stone, Katie Wenzel

God has bestowed the gift of contented singleness upon some accompanied by a call to powerful Kingdom-advancing work (1 Cor. 7:7,32), sometimes in conspicuous ways - think Jesus, Paul, John Stott – and sometimes inconspicuously. More commonly, God’s gift is marriage and children. The call to pursue profound Kingdom expansion in and through the family is just as compelling, if not more complicated, as it is in the life of a single saint. This call for families to build the Kingdom and raise Citizens is consistent with the “very good” purposes God had for Adam’s family even before their fall. This panel will explore how God’s Word calls families into a “peculiar” way of life, and how His Spirit empowers parents through the Gospel to intentionally transform their daily routine into a display of the virtues and perfections of Him who has called them (1 Peter 2:9).
