God has already assigned to each of us an inheritance in this life, and the next one. However, being given an inheritance is not the same thing as taking possession of it. God had assigned to the Hebrews a land of promise, but their role required them to occupy it. That same challenge stands before us as we move forward into the future God has ordained for us and promised to us. God calls to us to finish what we started—to conquer what has been left untouched. Under Pressure To Get Up

It’s easy to stay down once we’re accustomed to it. Down, discouraged, disappointed, disabled, or depressed can easily become our “normal.” However, the challenge of this text today is to consider where we are, what we have, and what may be in store for us beyond our narrative of pain and trouble. Pressure—all of us have felt it. Sometimes the pressure we’re under is just too much. Other people’s expectations for us—not to mention our own—build up to a point where we just can’t deal. So what happens? We shut down. We withdraw. Or we might self-sabotage to take control of the inevitable disappointment we see lurking just around the corner.
