What They Say

Part 2

December 5, 2021 • Dr. Lance D. Watson • Luke 1:46–49

To “wait with hope” means to anticipate with joyful, confident expectation. According to the “grace principle,” when the favor of God rests upon you, the power of God is released through you. When God gives you “a promise to claim” as he did Mary, he also gives you “a process to embrace.” In the process, he calls you to “prepare yourself” and “prepare your environment.” Is there something God is waiting for you to give up – or start up – to make yourself ready for his arrival?

The Great Resignation

December 19, 2021 • Dr. Lance D. Watson • Luke 2:8–18

Heaven responds with praise at the announcement of the birth of Christ to the shepherds. The shepherds then resign from their present occupation with the sheep to locate and worship the newborn King. They adopt a new job once they find him, leaving to proclaim the good news of what God has done. Joy and proclamation of promised salvation dominate this account. How might we resign from lesser pursuits in our lives to adopt greater occupations that empower us to fulfill the mandates of God’s kingdom? That’s the call and that’s the challenge. Jump To A New Conclusion

December 12, 2021 • Dr. Lance D. Watson • Matthew 1:18–25

In the Christmas story, Joseph draws the only conclusion he can imagine based on the information he has, yet his conclusion turns out to be wrong. Have you ever been caught jumping to the wrong conclusion? In Matthew 1:18-25 Joseph decided to quietly divorce Mary, but an angel was sent to tell him he had reached the wrong conclusion. When he wakes up, Joseph does what the angel commanded. Regardless of the impossibility, the inconvenience, and the cost, Joseph obeys. As we look at Joseph’s life, reflect on where you may need to jump to a new conclusion. We are Saint Paul’s Everywhere!
