Day 43 of 60

October 30, 2023 • Pastor Donald Johnston • Matthew 18:19–20

Matthew 18:19, 20

“Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them." (NKJV)

“Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” (NIV)

These verses are at the end of a passage where Yahshua is giving instruction about how to deal with a sinning brother explaining the authority and responsibility of those making the decisions and how they should proceed. Then verses nineteen and twenty discuss how real agreement works.

This type of agreement is a harmony, a symphony between two or more people. It’s the image of a two or more instruments (voices) joining together under the direction of a conductor on the same musical score, or singing a song, playing (singing) different parts but coming together in perfect harmony as they follow the leadership of the conductor. It then creates a beautiful sound that resonates with everyone and affects the atmosphere around and within those who listen.

When we come together for the Heartland Assembly prepare your heart to gather in His authority, ready to follow His lead for this dedicated time, so we come into perfect harmony and agreement with others who are prepared. This happens by the Spirit, not by what we can control, determine, make happen by the right song sung by the worship leaders, or even some means of finding “common ground” from which to start. Over the next few days set aside time to rest and hear. Ask Yahshua to reveal by Holy Spirit what specific agreement you can bring and how it joins the purpose of this gathering. Expect Him to reveal it. Then when you arrive, by the Spirit find your place in the harmony and join the Word that will be released. Join means we agree for action expecting results. Come expecting a level of spiritual agreement that activates a Word which finds its expression (resonation) in and through each of us. Then as we are sent out, we activate (resonate) that word in our “metrons,” places of authority and influence in this region.
