Acts 17:11
“These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.” (NKJV)
“They found that the Jews of Berea were of more noble character and much more open minded than those of Thessalonica. They were hungry to learn and eagerly received the word. Every day they opened the scrolls of Scripture to search and examine them, to verify that what Paul taught them was true.” (TPT)
When we come together for a time when the Word is Yahweh is released, do we find ourselves ready to receive with an open mind and eager to the point of spiritually hungry to receive the Word? Are we positioned and ready to receive, or are we satisfied with what we have already heard? The Bereans were always ready for more, and they searched the Old Testament to verify what Paul taught was really there. They were not trying to prove him right or wrong but were opening-mindedly discovering what was not taught to them from those passages by their religious leaders. It made them hungry for more!
As we come together for this Heartland Assembly, may we come like the Bereans. Come positioned, excited, eager and with an open mind and heart to receive what Yahweh will reveal. It makes us hungry for more. We’ll know that we have received the Word when it results in an action in and through us.
