Day 46 of 60

November 2, 2023 • Pastor Donald Johnston • 1 Corinthians 14:1–4

1 Corinthians 14:1-4

“Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy . . . the one who prophesies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation . . . the one who prophesies builds up the church.” (ESV)

“It is good that you are enthusiastic and passionate about spiritual gifts, especially prophecy . . .  when someone prophesies, he speaks to encourage people, to build them up, and to bring them comfort . . . the one who prophesies builds up the church.” (TPT)

(Please read the full chapter or at least through verse twelve. These meditations are just a glimpse of what is in the passages we reference.)

Actively pursue love and burn with passion for the unique gifts given you, especially that you may prophesy! Yes, each of us can prophesy! Prophecy builds up and encourages the one receiving the prophecy. It is meant to bring comfort and peace when properly received, understood, and acted upon. And it is not simply about us as individuals but is meant to build up the Ecclesia.

The prophetic words we have spoken, and those we have received prepare us to be part of something greater than ourselves. How do the individual words we give and /or receive join with the word for the house, our local ecclesia? How do they build us so we can join the prophetic word over our house? How do they bring us into unity? And what is the prophetic word given to our house anyway? Have you judged your word within that context? Prophetic words will always join a greater vision, something bigger than ourselves. Yahweh’s purpose involves us but is greater than each one of us. Prophecies build us up, pointing us in a direction that allows us to join the prophetic word given to the ecclesia where Yahshua has placed us. The prophetic word is designed to make us burn with passion when we operate as part of the ecclesia and operate as unique individual expressions of Christ in the earth.

Are we ready to give and receive prophetic words before, during and after the Heartland Assembly? Are we burning intensely with passion for words each of us can deliver that build up the ecclesia as a whole? Come actively ready to hear, release, and join a unified prophetic word for this region.
