James Week 10

James 4:6-10

November 12, 2019 • Ranae Seestadt

What does it mean that God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble? How can we successfully resist the devil?

Humility is a safeguard for our lives and helps us recognize and avoid the snares of the enemy. Pride drives us to judge one another, think more highly of ourselves than we ought and be led into all kinds of evil. God gives us a greater grace that we may overcome through His power.

Scriptures used:
James 4:6-10
Galatians 5:25
Matthew 4:1-11
1 Peter 5:8

James Week 11

What is the difference between gaining wise counsel and gossiping or slander?  When do we cross over from questioning something into judging each other?  As believers in Jesus Christ we ought to be careful with the words we speak about others.  God is the only righteous Judge.  We also must be careful to consult Him as we make plans for our lives as we do not know what each day holds.  James challenges us to live each day deliberately, remembering that God calls us to specific things each day.  Grab your Bible and join us as we finish chapter 4. Scriptures used: James 4:11-17 1 Peter 2:12 Galatians 5:15 Ephesians 4:29 Luke 12:16-21
