Romans 12:10-11

The Bible calls us to be devoted to one another in brotherly love. What does that actually look like and how can we be better at doing this? Why should we care to show preference to one another? This passage also challenges us to be diligent in our service to the Lord. Sometimes we encounter stumbling blocks that hinder us from serving Him well. When we are hurt or betrayed our fleshly desire is to seek revenge. However, the Bible tells us we should never do so. How can we live with the wrongs done to us if we cannot retaliate? Instead of taking our own revenge, why should we trust God to judge on our behalf? As we follow Biblical instructions for when we are wronged we find that instead of being overcome by evil, we can instead overcome evil with good. We've often heard the adage, "an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth." It is our natural inclination to repay evil with evil. However, the Bible stands in direct opposition to this fleshly desire when it tells us never to repay evil for evil. Instead, we are to do right and strive to be at peace with all, even those who wound us. Grab a Bible and join us for session 12 of our study: A Living Sacrifice. We are called to pursue unity in Christ. Does that mean we must all agree on everything? Paul also reminds us to be careful not to think too highly of ourselves. Pride is a danger that creeps into our lives if we don't actively guard against it and works destruction in our relationships.
