In this portion of Scripture, Paul exhorts young men to be sensible and maintain character qualities that line up with what they claim to believe. How does this section relate to us, as women? How can we too pursue godly behavior so that we adorn the doctrine of the Lord instead of being a stumbling block to those around us? How should we view those people who are in authority over us and what should our behavior be?

As Paul closes his letter to Titus he reminds us to avoid foolish controversies and disputes because arguing over spiritual things doesn't make us spiritual. Rather, we are called to walk in obedience to the things we have learned. We ought also to avoid divisive people and instead engage in the good deeds we are called to. Paul reminds the Cretans to submit to the government and its officers. How should we, as believers, apply that verse to our lives? Is there ever a reason to go against the government? We are also reminded in this passage that we are saved by the great mercy of the Lord and not by works we have done.
