As Paul closes his letter to Titus he reminds us to avoid foolish controversies and disputes because arguing over spiritual things doesn't make us spiritual. Rather, we are called to walk in obedience to the things we have learned. We ought also to avoid divisive people and instead engage in the good deeds we are called to. Paul reminds the Cretans to submit to the government and its officers. How should we, as believers, apply that verse to our lives? Is there ever a reason to go against the government? We are also reminded in this passage that we are saved by the great mercy of the Lord and not by works we have done.
