Light in the Darkness

How do we live holy, while in the company of the lost

April 25, 2018 • Brian Motte • Ezekiel 33, Mark 2:15-17, Romans 10:13-15, Matthew 28:19-20, Romans 1:16-17

OVERVIEW: Name the people you know (family member, friend, acquaintance, co-worker, etc…) who do not know Jesus as their savior? What are you doing about that? When we come to know Christ we naturally pull away from sin, from those who do sin and from environments where sin reigns. But this poses a problem because Jesus teaches us to be the salt and light of the world. Jesus tells us that he came for those who are sick. So how do we manage our lives when it comes to being the light of the world without being having our own fire extinguished by sin? QUESTIONS: Name the people you know (family member, friend, acquaintance, co-worker, etc…) who do not know Jesus as their savior? When you’re with the people on your list, do you struggle with falling into sin? How might you change this? If you don’t have anyone on your list, then do you think you are fulfilling the great commission? Explain why or why not. Do you think just hanging out with non-Christians makes you salt and light in their lives? Why or why not? What are you personally doing in the the lives of the people on your list, or if you don’t have a list, in the lives of the unsaved in Fenton, Linden, Byron, etc to introduce them to Jesus? CHALLENGE: Being Salt and Light is an intentional process. This week, pray over the people on your list. If you don’t have one, ask God to give you eyes to see people in your life who need Jesus and then add them to your list. Before you spend time with any of the people you listed, spend time praying about and brainstorming how you will sow seeds of truth in their lives. Then go and actually do it!

James Week 10

James 4:6-10 • November 12, 2019 • Ranae Seestadt

What does it mean that God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble? How can we successfully resist the devil? Humility is a safeguard for our lives and helps us recognize and avoid the snares of the enemy. Pride drives us to judge one another, think more highly of ourselves than we ought and be led into all kinds of evil. God gives us a greater grace that we may overcome through His power. Scriptures used: James 4:6-10 Galatians 5:25 Matthew 4:1-11 1 Peter 5:8 Ephesians 6:10-18 Philippians 2:5-8
