Metaphor of Marriage

Marriage is intended to be a union of two people, equal in value and importance, who come together selflessly in mutual submission and intentional love. They are still distinct persons, but function as one unit. Marriage is a picture of Christ and the Church, modeling how Christ loves us perfectly and how we should respond to that kind of love.
