New Year's Eve: Attitude is Everything

New Year's Eve: Attitude is Everything

December 31, 2023 • Garry Firth • Psalm 73:13–14, Psalm 73:21–26, Philippians 2:13–15, Philippians 2:3–8

1. How do you typically ring in the New Year? What is your most memorable New Year's Eve? 2. We heard how we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace. Do you agree or disagree? What about the idea that life is ten percent what happens to me and ninety percent how I react to it? 3. “Was it for nothing that I kept my heart pure and kept myself from doing wrong? All I get is trouble all day long; every morning brings me pain…” (Psalm 73:13-14) In what ways has this attitude affected you, or has it? 4. God is working in you to help you want to do, and be able to do, what pleases him. Do everything without complaining or arguing. Then you will be innocent and without any wrong. You will be God's children without fault. But you are living with crooked and mean people all around you, among whom you shine like stars in the dark world. (Philippians 2:13-15)  Garry mentioned how culture is so negative that when you find a person who is genuinely positive they stick out like a sore thumb. Who is someone you know that shines like a star in a dark world because they have such a positive attitude? 5. “I belong to you; you are holding my right hand. You will keep on guiding me with your counsel, leading me to a glorious destiny. Whom have I in heaven but you? I desire you more than anything on earth. My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever…” (Psalm 73:23-26) We heard how there is no more powerful, hope-inspiring thought to plant in your mind as you enter into 2024 than knowing that God is with you regardless of your circumstances. How will embracing this truth impact your attitude heading into 2024?
