True Hearts Together Part 1

Deuteronomy 10

September 2, 2021 • Pastor Bill Gehm

Israel, God’s people, had a sin problem. The law was given and promptly broken. The law was never meant to save, but instead to point out how far from perfect humanity really was. The Lord required perfect obedience, perfect love, and perfect service. So, as Pastor Bill teaches today, since man is unable to live perfectly, God sent His Son, Jesus to do what man could not do. We, today, have a sin problem. We can’t live as we should. But if you know God, you get His righteousness by faith and a new heart to begin to live better.

Have you ever tried to counsel a friend going through a tough time, and quoted a bit of Scripture that maybe only seemed slightly relevant? Pastor Bill warns you to be careful in those kinds of situations. If you begin to take Scripture out of context and apply it to situations where it doesn’t belong or make sense, you can do more harm than good, even though you’re using good tools. Instead, use the wisdom that you have gained from Scripture, and ask the Lord to give you the words to say.

The Lord sustains His people through means that are only sometimes understandable by humans. Pastor Bill advises you to seek a leader who recognizes the works of God in your life and encourages you to seek the Lord for the provision and answers you need to make it through.

If those challenges don’t come from people around you, they will often come in the form of spiritual attacks from the enemy. However, Pastor Bill reminds you to praise God always and allow Him to raise you up and carry you through.
