Guilt - Religion & The Right Seat

August 22, 2021 • Ps. Rob Spina • Matthew 11:30, Ephesians 2:6, Matthew 23:1–3, Matthew 23:4

Guilt - Religion & the Right Seat Point #1 The Guilt Game GUILT: That feeling of deserving blame especially for imagined offenses or from a sense of inadequacy Point #2 Religious Obligations Matthew 23:1-3 TPT Then Jesus addressed both the crowds and his disciples and said, “The religious scholars and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat as the authorized interpreters of the Law. So listen and follow what they teach, but don’t do what they do, for they tell you one thing and do another. Matthew 23:4 TPT They tie on your backs an oppressive burden of religious obligations and insist that you carry them, but will never lift a finger to help ease your load Point #3 The Right Seat, is the Right Seat! Matthew 11:28 NLT Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:29-30 NLT Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Eph 2:6 NIV And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus… Hebrews 1:3 NLT The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven. Hebrews 12:2 Prms Keep your eyes focused and fixed - fastened on the eyes of Jesus, our champion and the one who perfects our faith. It was because of the joy before Him, that Joy beyond the cross that He endured the cross and you are His joy! The pain and shame meant nothing, as He was finishing the work He came to do. And then He sat down, in the place of honor He alone deserves, seated at the right hand of God our Father.
