Happily Ever After

September 25, 2022 • Jeff Maness • Revelation 21:1–9, James 2:19

Have you ever watched a movie or read a book and the ending was just terrible? You've invested your time and attention only to be left disappointed. But this story that we've been talking about is not only a page-turner, it has a truly spectacular ending for every follower of Jesus! God is preparing a new and perfected Heaven on earth where we will partner with Him in building the culture and city He always intended for us to build. But what else should you know about the end of the story, and how should that change the way you live your story? Watch "Happily Ever After", the last message of our It's A Page-Turner series, and learn what happens to Christ-followers after we close the book on this life, and how we should be preparing for it now.

Legacy

September 18, 2022 • Tim Jirrels • 2 Peter 1:3–11, Luke 23, John 14:12

Your legacy is your part of the story; one small part of the bigger story. It's about who you are becoming now. And when you are no longer here, it's what people will remember about you. In this message, special guest speaker Tim Jirrels teaches how to leave a good and lasting legacy.

Unity

September 11, 2022 • Jeff Maness • John 17:20–23, Romans 15:1–9, Philippians 2:3–5, 1 Corinthians 1:10

In John 17:20-23 Jesus prayed, "I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message. I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me. I have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are one. I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me." If Jesus prayed for our unity, then we should make unity our priority. But how do we do that? Watch this message and see.

Characters

September 4, 2022 • Weston Savell • Ephesians 2:8–9, Matthew 6:24, Philippians 2:9–11, Romans 10:9, Hebrews 11:32–38

In God's story, each person has a part to play, and like the pieces of a puzzle, each person's part matters to the big picture. Do you see yourself playing a part in this story? Do you really believe that God wants to use you to play a part in His story? Watch the message "Characters" by Teaching Pastor Weston Savell to find out why the part you play is essential to God's overall story.

Community

August 28, 2022 • Jeff Maness • Galatians 6:1–3, 1 Peter 5:8, Romans 12:3

Then the LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone.” —Genesis 2:18 This is the only place where God said something in His creation was not good. We were designed to live with others in community. You can survive without being in community, but you’ll struggle to have the strength you need. What kind community provides the strength that we need? Watch this message to find out!

Hero

August 21, 2022 • Jeff Maness • Colossians 1:15–23, John 8:58, Hebrews 1:3

Every good story has a hero. In most stories, the hero is a flawed human who goes through trials of his own as he beats the bad guy. Our hero is Jesus. But it's not what He did, it’s who Jesus is that makes Him the hero of our story. Watch "Hero", the second message of our It's A Page-Turner series, to find out what you should know about who Jesus is.

Chapter 1

August 14, 2022 • Rick Baldwin, Jeff Maness • Acts 20:24, Matthew 17:20, 1 Corinthians 3:4–9, Philippians 2:1–5, 1 John 4:19

This is a very special message, one that should not be missed by anyone who has ever attended The Harbor or Friendswood Community Church. In the first part, our founding and senior pastor for the past almost 25 years talks about the first quarter century of The Harbor, how it began, the people who came alongside, and the growth engines that have helped so many come to know Jesus or know Him better. In the second part of this message, Rick's successor as senior pastor, Jeff Maness, talks about the qualities that make Rick such an amazing example of Christ: humility, unconditional love, and grace. Finally, the church board and congregation shower Rick and Marie with prayer as they head off to their new chapter in retirement. It was a Sunday we will never forget!
