This week we deviated from our normal service to spend some time giving an update on the Pastor Search process as well as spent time in prayer for our future pastor, his wife, his children, and our local church. We believe prayer is about seeking to weave the kingdom of God into our lives and we are called to "pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests" (Ephesians 6:18).

One of the most challenging things to reconcile, as a follower of Jesus or not, is whether we are worthy of love. Our striving may leave us successful but still, our hearts ache for the love, affirmation, and sense of well-being we all long for. Yet, the very thing we long for is found in Mark 1, on the banks of the Jordan river, over two thousand years ago, at the start of Jesus' public ministry. This week we dive into how the Spirit helps for our identity in Christ.

If you've ever experienced a season of waiting, you know well the dull ache of anticipation. Some two millennia ago, half a world away, John the Baptist came on the scene as the long-awaited voice to prepare God's renewal move. He came proclaiming repentance and the confession of sins to a nation in desperate need for God's presence, God's return. But that's not all, these people - us - need more than confession, we need God's very self. This week Mark testifies to the power on offer in Jesus.
