Having completed our study of Judaism, the religious parent of Christianity, it follows that we might now turn toward Christianity itself. This course is a remarkable opportunity to hear, from a fine scholar and confessing Christian, how Christianity was born, how it grew and developed, and how, to the present day, it remains central to the lives of over 2 billion people around the world. We will learn what distinguishes Christianity among world religions, and how this seemingly minor sect of Judaism became the religion that now claims more adherents than any other. We will learn about the wide range of Christian belief and practice throughout its history and across our present world. This is an opportunity to examine the religion that many of us grew up within, and which continues to transform our lives daily.
