The comfort of considering Jesus' return

May 21, 2023 • Sam Gardner • 2 Thessalonians 2:1–12

In this passage we get to one of Paul’s main reasons for writing this letter - to clarify that Jesus has not returned yet. Paul’s chief aim isn’t to pass on information but to impart comfort (2 Thess 2:16-17) – that for believers, the thought of the Day of the Lord should bring peace and reassurance that He will take all who are His with Him into eternity, and that all that is against Him will be eternally condemned. The signs are not meant to be our fixation, but rather the one the signs point to, Jesus.  🏠 Visit our website https://http://www.thecitychurch.org.uk 🎧 Find our sermon library here https://subsplash.com/thecitychurch/sermons

Hope worth living for

May 14, 2023 • Nii Noi Osuteye • 2 Thessalonians 1

The second letter to the Thessalonian church follows shortly after Paul’s first letter. Paul writes with an encouragement to the church who were standing strong in the midst of persecution, bringing a godly perspective on their suffering and how the expectation of Christ’s coming should affect their lives now. 🏠 Visit our website https://http://www.thecitychurch.org.uk 🎧 Find our sermon library here https://subsplash.com/thecitychurch/sermons
