For many, Thanksgiving is a day when family and friends gather together and eat an enormous meal and watch football on TV. But it is more than that. We are to be thankful to the Lord every day of our lives. God actually says that being thankful to him is His will for our lives (1Thessalonians 5:18). Yet, I am afraid that we are a very ungrateful people! Children are ungrateful to parents, people are ungrateful to one another, and worse of all, people are ungrateful to God. Scripture gives us many reasons why we should thank the Lord for His goodness toward us. This Sunday we will be looking at Psalm 100:1-5. We will try to understand what these verses teach us about praise to the Lord and about being thankful unto God.

The apostle Paul had learned to give thanks, even in the most difficult situations. This man, who with his companion sang hymns to God at midnight in the cramped discomfort of a Philippian jail, had earned the right to recommend the same attitude of heart to others. So he says, “Be filled with the http://spirit...giving thanks always for all things unto God” (Eph. 5:18,20). For the Christian, every day should be Thanksgiving Day, for God has created and blessed us daily with His grace and mercy. This Sunday we will be looking at how we can Give Thanks for Everything.
