Stand on the Mountain

January 7, 2024 • Pastor Rick Wright • Matthew 17:1–13, Mark 9:1–9, Luke 9:28–36

2024 is here and this Sunday is VISION SUNDAY!! In a moment of great, purposeful clarity in 3 of the 4 gospels Jesus journeys with Peter, James, and John, to go and STAND on the MOUNTAIN.  In this fascinating passage the disciples behold the brilliance of the glory of God as Jesus reveals His deity, and then out of nowhere, Elijah and Moses appear and speak to Jesus. In Moses's and Elijah's lifetime God revealed His glory and spoke on the mountain. Moses, Elijah, Peter, James, and John met with God on the mountain! In '24, CCW Let’s STAND on the MOUNTAIN!

Focus

December 31, 2023 • Pastor Dave Roper

This week we celebrate the last Sunday of 2023! New Year’s Eve! Next week starts a brand new year is Vision Sunday. Pastor Rick is going to communicate the vision he has for CCW for 2024. Before we do that, we are going to take a few minutes on New Year’s Eve to talk about focus. If you’re out of focus, the vision won’t mean that much to you.

Supplication of the Surrendered

November 12, 2023 • Pastor John Reynolds • Exodus 33

What is the greatest need of the church? What would happen if everyone in our church would commit to prayer? What has God done in the past for a people who pray? Spurgeon said “Prayer is the engine room of the church.” What power will we experience if we would just pray? Join us to hear the message, “Supplication of the Surrendered.”

Genuine Repentance

October 8, 2023 • Pastor Allen Harris • Acts 2:37–39, Romans 5:12–19, Romans 10:9–10, Luke 24:46–47

Have you ever received an exciting message and you just couldn't wait to share it? The type of message that made you stop whatever you were doing to make a call, send a text, or even go meet a friend? What a feeling to get good news! I've got Good News, and so do you, if you have a relationship with Jesus Christ! The word Gospel means "Good News." It never ends with us receiving that news, but it was the commission of Jesus Christ for the Church to infiltrate culture with that news. John 17:8, "You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world."

Made for this Moment

May 14, 2023 • Pastor Rick Wright

This Sunday is a very special day; it’s Mother’s Day and we are privileged to celebrate all the CCW moms that help make our church so special. The influence of a mother upon the lives of her children can hardly be measured. They know and absorb her example in countless ways. If you’re reading this, no doubt you have been impacted by a mother!  We will be looking this Mother’s Day at the story of Esther. Esther is an unlikely heroine - an orphaned, Jewish girl who becomes queen. She is faced with a weighty, frightful decision that will impact untold generations. The theme verse is Esther 4:14, "For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” Moms you were made for this moment right now and your investment into this generation is vital.

Burn the Boats

January 8, 2023 • Pastor Rick Wright

Proverbs 29:18 says, "Where there is no vision the people perish." This Sunday, Pastor Rick will be bringing a vision message that is a 2023 rally cry entitled, "Burn The Boats." In Numbers 13 and 14, we study the story of Israel on the brink of going into the Promised Land with only one thing that could hold them back, and that one thing was Israel.  In 2023, we want to challenge the whole church to be ALL IN with the vision: BURN THE BOATS. This Sunday will be an amazing time of worship with our CCW family! It will serve as the prequel to the story of Joshua that we will be studying in our first sermon series of the year called "FORWARD."

Becoming more like Christ

January 1, 2023 • Pastor Danny Lovett

It's 2023 and it's time to step "Forward" into Uncharted territory. To Paraphrase Joshua 3:3-4-God told the Israelites when they see the ark of the covenant (which represents the presence of God) you should follow after it, that you may know which way to go for it is a new way that you have not gone before. God wants to take us to deeper places with more of Him. Join us in prayer, that in 2023 we walk with the Lord finding His presence and being wholeheartedly committed to HIs ways seeking every avenue to making much of Jesus!

Deliverance from the Den

November 27, 2022 • Pastor John Reynolds

This Sunday we hope and pray you find encouragement as we look at Daniel 6 and the message, "Deliverance from the Den". Certainly we all have experiences of which there was no escape outside of the embracement of God. There are so many applications so we hope you will join us that the application will not be just looked at but lived out.

The Hurt and the Healer

October 9, 2022 • Pastor Joe Daniels

Joni Eareckson Tada once said this "If you had never known physical pain in your life, how could you appreciate the nail scarred hands with which Jesus Christ will meet you?" I believe that how we endure pain in life is one of the greatest ways we can show God's faithfulness to the world. The apostle Paul said in his writings to The Church at Corinth that "I boast in my weakness for when I am weak He is strong." As humans in a broken world pain and suffering will happen but as Christians we have an opportunity to show Jesus through it all, so join us this Sunday as we look at one of the coolest stories of healing in the bible and how we can learn to suffer well through the testimony.

Missing Precious Opportunities

October 2, 2022 • Pastor Ric Camp

Join us today for a special message from the Shelby Baptist Association, Pastor Ric Camp!

Mother's Day

May 8, 2022 • Dr. Susan Lovett

Mother’s Day is a special time to acknowledge and express love and gratitude to our mothers. It’s also a time to commit ourselves to the priority of family and examine our own lives. This Sunday we will have a very special speaker encouraging our moms, Dr. Susan Lovett. Mrs. Susan shared: “One mother taught her son what he should be looking for in a wife and this time-tested advice will be our focus this Mother’s Day. We find it in Proverbs 31. Are we supposed to be Wonder Woman or God’s Woman? To be honest, I don’t always like this Proverbs 31 woman because her perfection seems beyond my reach, but she has lessons for us to learn that might encourage us!”

Getting serious about God

March 27, 2022 • Pastor Danny Lovett

Pastor Danny & Susan Lovett have poured their heart and soul into CCW for 10 years. Today we hear from Pastor Danny on why we should get serious about God while also recognizing them in their transition into the next phase for their ministry.

Charge to the Pastors

February 27, 2022 • Pastor Danny Lovett

Pastor Rick Wright was confirmed with a unanimous vote as the new senior pastor and Sunday, February 27, we will be honoring the office of pastor with an installation service. We will publicly, prayerfully, and officially acknowledge the call of God and place Pastor Rick into the sacred role of pastor of the Church at Chelsea-Westover. Though he has served nearly two decades in ministry, this is his first church as the pastor. His friend and former pastor, John Reynolds of Calvary Church in Connersville, Indiana will join me as we give a charge to Rick and the church in this beautiful service of dedication.

Why you need courage

January 9, 2022 • Pastor Danny Lovett

It's time to cross over the Jordan and enter the promised land! This is going to take courage. Why did God say to Joshua, "Be strong and of good courage"? Courage is needed when life is full of change. How we respond to such challenges can change you, and those around you. The dividing line between mediocrity and success is courage. God told Joshua, David told Solomon, as he ascended the throne, and God is telling you and me that in the days ahead we need to be courageous. David said it well, "Be strong and of good courage, and do it” (1 Chronicles 28:20). Pastor Rick laid out a clear path of being Mile 2 Christians in 2022, let's take courage and do it!

Take Mile 2

January 2, 2022 • Pastor Rick Wright

Happy New Year CCW! Proverbs 29:18 says where there is no vision the people perish. Today we kick off 2022 with Vision Sunday! In Genesis 24 we see a principle unfold from the story of Isaac and Rebekah, that Jesus would teach the disciples "if a man asks you to go one mile, go with him two. CCW is a community Church that exists to "Love God and Love People". Mile 2 is being a Church ready for opportunities to Make Much of Jesus every day and love our community! We Know God is going to take us further and deeper in this new year! We are looking forward to seeing all God has in store at CCW and can't wait to jump into 2022 with YOU!!
